This is the 13th SIGSPATIAL Cup competition (GISCUP 2024), co-located with the 2024 ACM SIGSPATIAL conference. The goal of this annual contest, hosted by SIGSPATIAL, is to encourage innovation in a fun and active way. The winners will be announced at the ACM SIGSPATIAL conference in October 2024. Contest participants will submit original solutions, output, and a report that would describe the solution approach by the deadlines mentioned in the Submit page.

The 2024 contest will focus on:

Optimal Minimum Deployment of Electric Vehicles Charging Station Network

This problem seeks to optimize the placement of EV charging stations by analyzing traffic patterns, key destinations, electric grid demand-supply balance, infrastructure availability, and socio-economic factors. The overarching vision is to ensure equitable and efficient access to EV charging stations for all users, with an emphasis on serving underserved communities and enabling seamless integration into existing transportation networks while minimizing the cost and other related factors. For the purpose of this contest, participants will focus only on the Personally Owned Electric Vehicles, including shared mobility options (Deployment network for freight is outside of the scope of this contest).
